Vision Critical Inspired by Business Community’s Actions to Make a Difference in Haiti

Vision Critical launches plan to match all staff donations for Haiti relief.

Vancouver, January 14, 2010Angus Reid, market research veteran and CEO of Vision Critical®, has announced a company program to match all individual staff donations to Haiti relief, to a maximum of $50,000. Vision Critical is an integrated research and technology company based in Vancouver, with additional offices throughout Canada, the USA, the UK, France and Australia. In tandem with today’s announcement that the Canadian government will also match individual donations to registered Canadian charitable organizations, the company hopes to raise $200,000 in direct aid for people affected by the earthquake in Haiti on January 12.

The company was inspired by outreach efforts among the business community, including Google’s homepage link to “information, resources and ways you can help survivors of the Haiti earthquake” and by Amazon’s move to free up valuable homepage real estate for online donations, that might have otherwise be used for money-generating advertisements.

“It is impossible to simply be a spectator to the terrible situation unfolding in Haiti,” says CEO Angus Reid. “This country is going to need unprecedented assistance and we’ve decided to do our small part for relief and reconstruction efforts in Haiti.”

By the middle of day one of the donation program, members of Vision Critical’s staff of 400 had already committed $13,000, bringing the running total to $52,000 after the company matches the donations and the Canadian government matches that.

Vision Critical’s employees have been encouraged to make their individual donations through the organization of their choice in their respective countries, including World Vision, The Red Cross,The Humanitarian Coalition, Doctors Without Borders, Unicef and Oxfam International.
