Panel Recruit

We consider three parts for recruitment:

  • Source: How you are going to reach your target audience and tell them about your panel?
  • Hook: What makes someone read your invitation to the panel?
  • Offer: What entices people to join the panel (either intrinsic or extrinsic)?

Podcast: How Do I Recruit People to Join a Customer Advisory Panel?

Source: Porsche and knitting?

You wouldn’t go to a knitting class expecting to find a lot of men over 40 who drive a Porsche. Depending who you are trying to recruit to your panel, we have a comprehensive list of sources to match up with your target audience. Often we find a mix of different sources to give you a nice balance of respondents.

Hook: Red carpet event

What’s the best way to make someone read your email invite or click on your banner ad online? It comes down to knowing how to reach your target audience. With hundreds of panels recruited, we’ve learned a few tricks. Often the most successful recruitment campaigns are the ones that tie in the VIP feel - so pull out the red carpets and your panelists will start rolling in.

Offer: There's more than money?

A common question we get asked is, “How much are the incentives going to cost?” We value sweepstake draws for panelists, but we encourage a lot of our clients to focus more on the intrinsic incentives. The effect of a simple newsletter is impressive. Your panelists want to know what you are doing with your research and what’s happening with their feedback. With this type of two-way communication it builds a stronger trust towards your brand and we regularly see spikes in response rates after a newsletter goes out.

“When we had the demo, our reaction was ‘Wow! You can do all of this.’ And once we started using Vision Critical, it was really good. I enjoyed it. The questionnaire design module is attractive and easy to use. Vision Critical defined templates so that the panel members’ portal and the surveys have a consistent look and feel, reflecting the BusinessWeek design ethos."
