Beavers out, tech tenants are in on Astor Place
Attracting tenants like the online auctioneer 1stdibs and social media giant Facebook in recent months, the area around Astor Place is clearly gaining traction as a destination for office tenants.
Now the firm Vision Critical, a software company, will be the latest to take space in the area. The company is leasing nearly 17,000 square feet at 440 Lafayette St., taking the entire top floor in the six-story building. The tenant committed to the space for seven years. Asking rents in the deal were in the $50s per square foot.
“Having Cooper Union and NYU and the East Village and the Bowery right there is exciting for tenants,” said Eric Cagner, a broker with Newmark Grubb Knight Frank who represented Vision Critical, along with Greg Wang.
