Happy campers vs. angry activists A majority of Canadians appear to be satisfied with their local governments, study says

So how do citizens really feel about their local governments? Are things as bad as the special interest groups tell us, or as good as the politicians would have us believe?

More and more, local government is becoming the flashpoint for our feelings toward government in general.

The federal government, with its seat in Ottawa thousands of kilometres away – increasingly getting out of the business of service delivery – is arguably less relevant in our day-today lives.

The provincial government has more direct impact. But our cities affect us the most. Whether it is garbage pickup or urban walking trails, we look to municipal halls first.
