OCTOBER 31, 2011 – Professionals in the advertising and market research industries who are in London on November 15 may want to consider dusting off their evening gowns and tuxedos, as the Public Relations Consultants Association plans to host the annual PRCA Awards – “the Oscars of the PR Industry.”
There are 26 different categories that aim to celebrate the best communications and public relations companies. Some of the awards include Young Communicator of the Year, In-house Professional of the Year and Freelancer of the Year. Many industries are recognized – the categories also count financial services and nonprofit organizations among the award classifications.
According to the association’s website, some of last year’s winners won praise for campaigns such as Ignite, the campaign that introduced Santanders in the U.K., as well as the National Health Service of Leicester’s ad campaign that raised awareness about teenage pregnancy.
The PRCA describes itself as a group representing PR professionals in the U.K. – consultancies, freelancers and in-house communications teams.
“The association exists to raise standards in PR and communications, providing members with industry data, facilitating the sharing of communications best practice and creating networking opportunities,” the organization’s website says.
