Vision Critical Announces 2012 Community Panel of the Year Finalists
Community Panel and research technology provider Vision Critical has revealed the names of the five finalists for the 2012 Community Panel of the Year Award. Each year, Vision Critical conducts a competition between their 500 Community Panel clients to recognize excellence in customer engagement and to celebrate outstanding business results. The selection committee has narrowed the field down to five finalists for the prestigious title:
Allure – Allure Beauty Enthusiasts
Founded in 1991, Allure is recognized as The Beauty Expert. What began as a magazine launched by renowned publisher Condé Nast, has since grown into a comprehensive multimedia beauty brand reaching over 8 million women monthly. Allure Beauty Enthusiasts members are passionate about all things beauty. Through the community panel, they are given the opportunity to participate in exclusive product trials, upload and share photos, offer product reviews, attend exclusive events, and participate in monthly contests. The community panel fosters dialogue among readers on a subject they are truly passionate about.
Discovery Communications – Influencer Panel
Discovery is the world’s #1 non-fiction media company, whose networks reach more than 1.8 billion subscribers in 209 countries. Discovery’s commitment to remain connected to viewers is exemplified by their 15,000-member Influencer Panel. This community panel is used by a wide variety of departments and networks who engage members to participate in title selection for programs, provide feedback on creative pieces, and help refine network commercials. Panel members were largely to thank for the successful introduction of Destination America, a new network that launched in the summer of 2012.
Guitar Center – My Music Nation
Founded in Hollywood by Wayne Mitchell in 1959, Guitar Center grew to 228 locations throughout the United States making it the largest chain of musical instrument retailers in the world. In 2000, following the acquisition of new mail order and internet retail channels, Guitar Center further asserted itself as the world’s largest seller of musical instruments outright. Panel surveys conducted on the My Music Nation community panel have led to new training programs for associates, the development of new protocols for dealing with customers in particular cases, and, ultimately, an improvement in shopper satisfaction.
Kimberly-Clark Australia – Huggies Online Panel
Kimberly-Clark’s global brands are an indispensable part of life for people in more than 175 countries. Every day, nearly a quarter of the world’s population trust brands such as Kleenex and Huggies to enhance their health, hygiene and well-being. The Huggies Online Panel has allowed Kimberly-Clark to foster a dialogue with both first time and experienced mothers of children from 0 to 3 years, quickly and cost-effectively. The panel has been used for product design, promotional ideas generation, website strategy and product testing, as well as longitudinal research to understand consumers better.
Institute of Directors (IoD) – Policy Voice
Originally formed in 1903, the Institute of Directors is the UK’s longest-running organization for directors and professional leaders. With 40,000 members, the IoD’s key aims are to support, represent and set standards for directors.
The IoD launched its community panel, Policy Voice, in 2008. Initially the objective for the community was simply to complement its pre-existing telephone market research programme. Over time, however, Policy Voice has become the organisation’s principal research tool, allowing the opinions of members to be collected quickly and flexibly, and to be communicated to the highest levels of government and the media.
The winner of the 2012 Global Community Panel of the Year competition will be announced at the company’s annual Summit in New York City on October 4th. For more information visit
